The BIP on Multilingualism aims to enhance understanding of multilingualism. Key objectives include:
Definitions
To understand and discuss different definitions of bilingualism and multilingualism.
Measurement Method
To explore and evaluate different methodologies for assessing language proficiency and experience.
Language Processing
To understand the cognitive processes involved in how multilinguals learn and use languages across diverse contexts.
Psycholinguistic ExperimentatioN
To learn how to design and program psycholinguistic experiments to study bi- and multilingualism.
SOCIETAL IMPACT
LANGUAGE POLICY ISSUES
To discuss how societal factors influence multilingualism, including the role of language policy and planning.
To understand how language policy affects multilingual individuals’ lives and well-being.
The program features a combination of online and in-person classes, workshops, and discussions, culminating in a poster session where students present their projects.
Methodologies and outcome
The program employs diverse methodologies, including:
